Gordon Wortherspoon’s 2007 Callaway Corvette

The Atomic Orange paint and 20 inch Callaway wheels make this Vette stand out in a crowd.

Arizona Auto Scene met Gordon Wotherspoon at the 2011 Tucson Corvette Club’s car show in Tucson. Not that there weren’t other beautiful Corvettes at the show, but his Atomic Orange 2007 Callaway Corvette is absolutely stunning and stood out from the crowd.

Gordon’s Vette started as a factory stock C6. In 2008 he had the car modified by Callaway. The addition of a Callaway supercharger bumbs the horsepower to a neck snapping 580 HP. All that power is fed to the rear wheels through a paddle shifted 6 speed automatic transmission.

In 2009, Gordon continued with modifications to his Corvette by changing the rear gears from 2.59 to 2.93, swapping the rear fenders for Z06 fenders and adding ZR1 front fenders prior to repainting the car. The stock suspension has been modified with Eibach racing suspension components. The addition of Callaway calipers/brakes has Gordon’s Corvette stopping six feet shorter than a stock ZR1.

Gordon has had the Vette on the dragstrip. His best run was a 12.3 during which Gordon was getting wheel spin at 80 MPH.

Gordon is very proud of his Callaway conversion. He has put a lot of work into this car and it shows.

Thanks for checking out Gordon’s ride.
