I agree with Jason. Based on today’s pro-touring restorations, this car is nice but no longer worth 165Gs unless updated with serpentine syst., EFI, and over-drive tranny.

    Beautiful car!!
BTW, even though it may not be to some folks taste, someone apparently liked it enough to pay $165,000 for it @ Barrett Jackson auction. Congrats on the sale Al!!

It’s a very nice restoration but I am surprised to see that it does NOT have an overdrive transmission or fuel injection. A touring car needs an overdrive, especially at that $155,000 price tag. Cruising down I-17 at 4000 RPM while trying to keep up with the 80MPH traffic does not sound like a touring car. Where is the fuel injection? It should have a 5 or 6 speed overdrive transmission with a fuel injected engine.

As far as Mondello engines go. Any Olds guy who turns his own wrenches knows that Mondello 2012 is not the Mondello of yesteryear. The shop is run by someone else and most Olds guys do not use the high priced parts that goes along with the name. There are better alternatives out there to high performance Olds engine parts.

It’s a nice car but I am an old school car guy and I have more respect for guys who turn their own wrenches and don’t have a blank check approach to car rebuilds. Show me a daily driver that was restored by a 9-5 guy in his own garage and I will shake his hand and swap stories. Unless you work on and restore your own car, you will never have the same respect and feelings that go along with it.
