The Desert Sands Corvette Group and Sands Chevrolet Display Selfless Acts of Kindness with their All American Car Show

Surprise, ARIZ. (August 8, 2013) – After hosting several car shows at Sands Chevrolet, Desert Sands Corvette car club member Laurie Williams tells Arizona Auto Scene that they wanted to have a car show to benefit with Phoenix Children’s Hospital.  Working closely with Sands Chevrolet, Sands Chevrolet and the Desert Sands Corvette group agreed to pay for all expenses incurred during the show.  Generally, show hosts take recoup their expenses and only donate proceeds to the chosen charity.

After making the decision to donate proceeds of the show to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, two members of the Desert Sands Corvette group took a tour of the facility.  Truly impressed at the work being done at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, they were moved beyond words.

smSandsChevy4thCarShow405The Desert Sands Corvette group was formed on Christmas Eve in 2008.  One man and 29 of his fellow automobile enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the holiday when someone said “ We need to a place to meet and have some fun with no politics, no rules, no dues, just fun!!!!”  With that statement evolved the Desert Sands Corvette group.  With no Officers and no dues, the Desert Sands Corvette group is a group of friends with a common interest.  Their central goal throughout the year is preparing for, and making their annual car show bigger and better than the prior year’s show.  The combined enthusiasm of both the Desert Sands Corvette group members and the staff of Sands Chevrolet grows with each year’s success.

With a strong desire to raise money for the children, it’s not just members of the Desert Sands Corvette group doing the fund raising.  Sands Chevrolet also solicits donations from its vendors and suppliers.

Though car show participants pay a registration fee to display their ride, the show is free to the general public to take in.  Strolling the grounds while a DJ spins tunes, spectators are treated to a relaxing atmosphere to take in the rides, check out local vendors or grab a bite to eat.

With a wide variety of classic, muscle and collectors being entered in their shows, there are trophies and plaques to be awarded in several categories.

The goal of the Desert Sands Corvette group is to make the show fun for all to attend.

By days end of Sands Chevrolet’s and the Desert Sands Corvette group’s 4th annual All American Car Show that was held on March 24, 2013, a few thousand people showed to check out the rides.  The combined efforts of the Desert Sands Corvette group and Sands Chevrolet had raised a total of $30,175.00.  Every penny brought in went directly to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

The 5th Annual All American Car Show is scheduled for March 23, 2014 at Sands Chevrolet in Surprise.  Raising the bar once again, the Desert Sands Corvette group is currently working on plans for the car show and have set a goal to raise at least $40,000 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital.  They have plans of adding more merchandise and food vendors and are going to make it a more family oriented show with the addition of a Kid-Zone featuring a bounce house and face painting.

Help the children of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital by supporting the 2014 All American Car Show at Sands Chevrolet in Surprise.

  2. John Jorgensen says:

My wife, Mae and I would like to join the Sands Corvette Group. We have a 2012 Artic White Grand Sport. We have been members of the Las Vegas Corvette Club, Desert Corvette Club and currently Sun Country Corvette Club due to our residing in the City of Avondale Crystal Gardens Community. We recently attended Desert’s Tombstone event, attend Corvettes and Caffeine at Corvette Performance, and drive to the Pavilions the first Saturday of the month. We are very impressed with Sands and its car show and would like to join in to help support that event in 2014 which we agree is for a very worthy cause.
