Erik Jones Wins the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway

Avondale, ARIZ. (November 8, 2013) – Erik Jones and the #51 Toyota not only took the win at Phoenix tonight during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, but Jones also set the record to be the youngest driver ever to win a NASCAR race.  At just 17 years, 5 months and 9 days, Jones took the record from Chase Elliott during the Lucas Oil 150.

Erik Jones Wins the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International RacewayJones, who started 2nd, and Ross Chastain dominated the majority of the race.  Jones was in the lead for 84 of the 150 lap race.  After trading the lead towards the end of the race, Jones was able to pass Chastain on the back stretch for the final time with just 9 laps remaining in the race.  Chastain and the #19 Ford took 2nd, crossing the finish line just 1.6 seconds behind Jones after starting in the pole position.  Brendan Gaughan and the #62 Chevrolet took 3rd.  Ty Dillon and the #3 Chevrolet took 4th and the #88 Toyota of Matt Crafton came in 5th.

Matt Crafton and the Thor Motorsports #88 Toyota are the current points leader in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with 780 points.  All Matt has to do to lock down the 2013 season Championship is start next Friday at the season’s last race in Homestead.

Racing at Phoenix International Raceway continues throughout the weekend with the NASCAR Nationwide Series Service master 200 and NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Casino Arizona 50 on Saturday and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AdvoCare 500 on Sunday.  Click here to the weekend’s event schedule.
