Collector Cars Began Rolling Across the Block at Bonhams on Thursday

Scottsdale Collector Auction Preview 2014

Scottsdale, ARIZ. (January 16, 2014) – Bonhams brought bidders and consignors together Thursday at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa as they ran their 2014 inventory across the auction block..  Approximately 100 rare and desirable cars made their way across the block, finding their way into the hands of a new owner.

Though the above pictured 1935 Auburn 851 Supercharged Boat Tail Speedster may have dropped the hammer at $425,000, it was lot # 173, the Tailor’s Car, a 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Berlinetta drawing in the top dollar with a selling price of $3,190,000.  Lot # 130, the ex Baron Phileppe de Gunzbourg’s 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Supercharged Gran Sport Zagato Spider came in second with a sales price of $3,080,000.

Five cars in Bonhams’ inventory sold for over one million dollars.

Although the Bonhams auction is done for the week, they’ll be back in Scottsdale in 2015.
