Zack’s ’72 GMC K1500 “Blue Truck” thrives in the High Country

Flagstaff’s Zack Seff has been the proud owner of this 1972 GMC K1500 pickup since he was 15 years old.  Prior to his father giving the truck to Zach, it served as his construction truck and has been useful in building many a house.  Though Zack may own it now, he has been around the ‘ol truck all his life.

When the GMC was given to Zack it has a tired it.  The paint had been faded by the Arizona sun and the body showed it had previously been a work truck.  In true father / son fashion, Zack and his father stripped the truck down to its frame.

During their restoration of the ‘ol GMC, Zack and his dad replaced the cab corners and rocker panels.  The dents taken on during its service life in construction were removed .  The suspension had already been lifted four inches and the frame was cleaned up for the build.

The body of the truck was painted blue and white, the paint scheme it rolled off the factory floor with.  After countless hours of color sanding the body, it was to begin the build.

A Painless Performance wiring harness made the connections for the light, etc.  Flagstaff’s Northland Upholstery took care of the bench seat.  Zack ordered the carpet from Classic Truck Parts of America.

Zack and his father dropped a 383 stroker into the truck along with the original 3 speed transmission.  With the GMC back up and running, Zack would drive it, rain, snow or shine throughout the rest of his high school days.

Zack is now 21 years old and restoration of the K1500 has been done for 5 years.  Over the years Zack has entered his ride into quite a few cars shows, winning awards along the way.  Though it may have taken trophies in shows over the years, the thing Zack enjoys the most is to “just drive it!”

Zack does’t plan on letting the “blue truck” go any time soon.
