Team Summit Wild Horse Pass Races into the Summer Months

Chandler, ARIZ. (June 8, 2014) – American DRAGCAR and Team Summit Wild Horse Pass both ran their first races of the Summer months on Saturday night at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.  With early evening temperatures reaching 104 degrees, crews at the track did a fine job of providing a good racing surface.

As members of both Team Summit and American DRAGCAR raced worked their way through the ladders during elimination rounds, the two best racers of the night would meet on the starting lines for the finals.

Super Pro

Team Summit Wild Horse Pass Races into the Summer Months
In an East Valley West Valley shootout, Super Pro would see Chandler’s Bruce Williams and his ’00 Yancer dragster and Peoria’s Kelly Harper and his ’69 Camaro meeting at the tree for the final rounds of eliminations.  Cutting a .049 light, Bruce would run a 7.843 at 163.97 mph.  Kelly would run a 9.237 at 145.47 mph for the Super Pro win.

Kelly Harper was also the No. 1 qualifier.

Pro

Team Summit Wild Horse Pass Races into the Summer Months
In a Nova on Nova showdown, Howard DeVore and Blake Williams would meet in the final round of Pro eliminations.  Howard driving a ’69 and Blake driving a ’66.  Howard cut a .020 light and would go on to run a 10.593 at 123.52 mph for the Pro win.  Blake ran a 10.902 at 122.41 mph, but it wasn’t enough.

Charlie Caudill was the No. 1 qualifier.

Sportsman

Team Summit Wild Horse Pass Races into the Summer Months
In the Sportsman class it was Steve Watkins driving his ’79 Chevette and Joe Cox Jr. driving his ’67 Coronet to meet at the tree for the final round of eliminations.  Cox cut a perfect .000 light and went on to run a 12.165 at 109.81 mph, nut it would be Watkins and the Monza taking the win with a 13.220 at 102.23 mph.

Stan Kennedy was the No. 1 qualifier.

ET Motorcycle

Team Summit Wild Horse Pass Races into the Summer Months
Riding his ’04 Hayabusa, Tyler Anderson would meet Jay Thompson on the line for the final round of motorcycle eliminations.  With an .065 reaction time, Jay be the second bike to leave the line as he launched his ’73 Kawasaki KZ900 on a 9.625, 131.09 mph pass.  Tyler ran a fast, but losing 9.817 at 135.99 mph.

Roger Griggs was the No. 1 qualifier.

American DRAGCAR

Team Summit Wild Horse Pass Races into the Summer Months
Eric Holsey and his Trans Am would meet Chris Holbrook, driving his ’66 Mustang on the starting line for the final rounds of American DRAGCAR eliminations. With a .034 reaction time, Chris would get off the line first.  Eric cut a .062 light and went on to run a 12.210 at 110.71 mph, but it wouldn’t be good  enough against Chris’ 11.714 112.31 mph.  Chris would take the American DRAGCAR win on Saturday night.  Congratulations!

Jeff Sefranek was the No. 1 qualifier.
