Go Fast Entertainment’s Drift & Drags are Picking Up a Head of Steam

Go Fast Entertainment's July 2014 Drift & Drag from Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park

Chandler, ARIZ. (July 20, 2014) – With just its second event, Go Fast Entertainment’s Drift & Drags brought the cars and the crowds out to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park Saturday for an adrenaline packed night under the lights.

In a test of driving skills, vehicle performance and friction, semi-professional and amateur drift drivers showed off their ability to control the out of control as they slid their cars sideways across the track in the lower pits.  Just over 70 drivers and their cars came out to compete in the drift event for the crowd that lined the fence of the upper pits and top row of the grand stands.

While drifters tamed the drift circuit, just over 60 drag racers took on the quarter mile.  Some there to test & tune, other there to run the Gambler and compete in the Drift & Drags points race.  With door slammers capable of making high 7 second passes, import tuners laying down some of their turbo boosted horsepower, and two wheeled action from the motorcycles, the drag strip put on a show of its own.

In the Electronics class of the Drag Gambler, Brett Hewson of Phoenix was the winner.  Brett raced his 2013 5.0 Mustang Coyote and took the win in the first round of eliminations.  Brett’s Mustang ran a 13.653 at 108.39 mph on a 13.65 dial.  Brett was also the main sponsor for Saturday’s Go Fast Drift & Drags.  A big thanks goes out to Brett Hewson for making Saturday’s event a reality.

Chandler’s Steve Watkins of Chandler would face Mesa’s Tanner Sundstrom in the final round of the Non-Electronics Gambler.  Tanner, dialed in at a 17.30 with his 2003 Chevrolet 2500 pick up truck got off the line with a .055 light against Watkins’ .171.  Watkins, dialed in at 13.30 in his 1979 Chevrolet Chevette would run a 13.372 at 102.81 mph.  Sundstrom would break out after running a 17.066 at 73.43 mph, handing Watkins an easy win.

Growing by more than double since its first event in June, the Go Fast Drift & Drag is definitely picking up a head of steam.  We’re looking forward to the next event.
