European Sports Leads the Way at Russo and Steele’s Outstanding Final-Day 3 in Monterey

Monterey, California (August 17, 2014) – For Enthusiasts – By Enthusiasts. ™ Much more than a tagline, it’s lifestyle, and it’s one that has infused all three days and all aspects of our fourteenth annual Monterey auction event. Building on the foundation of results from the event’s first two days and our visceral “auction in the round” experience, today’s outstanding selection of collector automobiles kept bidders active and firmly on their collective toes. While we are working hard to process the final sales totals, early indications point to excellent results in several of the fastest-rising areas of today’s vibrant collector-car marketplace, and a sharp increase over last year’s already impressive sales totals.

Notable sales for Saturday includes:

1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing – $1,320,000.00

1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona – $731,500.00

1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS Spyder – $335,500.00

1928 Rolls-Royce Thunderbolt Custom – $187,000.00

Following a stellar second day on Fisherman’s Wharf, which generated over 3 million dollars in early reported sales, and an average sale price of more than $120,000, day three was a thrilling experience on all levels and a fitting climax to the highly anticipated event. Day Three garnered excellent early results including the sale of a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing ($1,320,000.00), a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona ($731,500.00), a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS Spyder ($335,500.00) and the 1928 Rolls-Royce Thunderbolt Custom ($187,000.00). Following the high-octane action on the auction block, we are closing sales and processing transactions at a furious pace and will provide the finalized results in a subsequent media release.

In the meantime, keep your eyes on us and join our team at this year’s edition of the highly anticipated Las Vegas auctions. We have already amassed an outstanding group of significant automobiles and look forward to seeing you at the New Tropicana Las Vegas down on the strip where you will experience the incomparable Russo and Steele difference.
