Freaky Fast is Right!  Kevin Harvick Takes another Win at Phoenix International Raceway during the Camping World 500

Phoenix, ARIZ. (March 15, 2015) – Coming off a recent win in Vegas during the Kobalt Tools 400 and leading 224 of the 312 laps at Phoenix International Raceway, Kevin Harvick dominated Sunday during NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series 500.  Harvick picked up the lead on lap 26 when he passed Joey Logano between turns 3 and 4.  Harvick would go on to lead many of the remaining laps of the race at Phoenix International Raceway.  He would also lead the 312th and last lap, taking his first victory at Phoenix in 2015, and his fourth consecutive win NASCAR win at the track after fending off McMurray on a restart with 12 laps to go.

Winning four consecutive races at Phoenix International Raceway in a row when her crossed the finish line 1st during the, Kevin Harvick has set a new record at PIR.  He’s the only NASCAR Spring Cup Series driver to win four consecutive races in the 52 year history of the track.

Kevin Harvick Takes another Win at Phoenix International Raceway during the Camping World 500Though it was smooth sailing for Newman-Haas Racing’s driver Kevin Harvick for most of the race, others would not be so lucky.  Vickers hit the wall on the front stretch while completing the first lap of the race.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. went out of the race after spinning in Turn 3 and hitting the wall.  He didn’t come to a rest until the entrance to put road when his right rear tire caught on fire.  Tony Stewart spun hard in turn 4, backing into the wall.  Though he made it back out onto the track, his car wouldn’t be the same.  He would spin again in turn 4 shortly before the end of the race.

After 312 laps around the one mile tri-oval at Phoenix International Raceway during NASCAR’s 500, Kevin Harvick finished No. 1 with a huge lead.  Jamie McMurray finished No. 2, Ryan Newman finished No. 3, Kasey Kahne finished No, 4 and Recently reinstated driver Kurt Busch would round out the top five Sunday.  Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr. Joey Logano, Jeff Gordon and Kyle Larson finished out the top 10.

Harvick picked up 5 bonus points on Sunday.  Jamie McMurrary, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano each picked up 1 bonus point during the race.

NASCAR will be rolling into Auto Club Speedway on March 20th – 22nd for its next race, the Auto Club 400.
