Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racers Qualified for the 2015 World Finals Saturday at Wild Horse Pass

Chandler, Ariz. (November 7, 2015) – Horsepower met the lake at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park as qualifying continued for the 2015 Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Association’s World Finals Saturday.

In front of packed grand stands, Top Fuel Hydro, Top Alcohol Hydro, Top Alcohol Flat, Pro Mod and more put their props to the lake in an effort to claim the No. 1 qualifying spot for Sunday’s World Finals.

After the close of qualifying on Saturday the ladders were set for Sunday’s eliminations.

In the first round of Top Fuel Hydro, he No. 1 qualifier Scott Lumbert will meet No. 6 qualifier Tommy Rice on the rope.  Lumbert piloted the “Spirit of Texas” to a 3.416 at 266.335.  Rice, in the “Liquid Voodoo” ran a 3.950 at 230.344 mph.  No. 2 qualifier Jarrett Silvey in the Lucas Oil-sponsored “Speed Sports” will face Kyle Brawley in the “E3/Safety Kleen Whiskey River II.”  No. 3 qualifier Bryan Sanders and the “Nitrochondriac” will face Todd Plate, piloting “Problem Child.”

Top Alcohol Hydro’s Mike De Clark and the “Little White Lie” ran a 4.383 at 204.750 for the No. 1 position.  De Clark will have a bye run in the first round of eliminations.  No. 2 qualifire Bob Pizza in “What A Tomato” will meet “Pure Nasty Too” and Joe Blattler in Q1 eliminations.

2015 Lucas Oil Drag Boat Association's World FinalsTop Alcohol Flat No. 1 qualifier Don Bausher and “Habit Forming” will start the first round with a bye run.  The No. 2 qualifier, Bill Miller and “Party to the Max” will face off against No. 7, Tony Scarlata in “Shazam.”

Pro Mod will see No. 1 qualifier Ryan Baxter in the “Bottom Up” facing off against No. 16 qualifier  Cole Allen.

Along with the drag racing, the Cracker Box Pros will he running on the lake.  These two seat boats put on quite the show as they run an oval course in the lake, jumping each other’s wakes as they go.  Unfortunately, teh “Mr. Magoo” sank Saturday at the south end of the lake.  Hopefully they got it out in time to get it ready for Sunday.

There’s many more racing classes as well.  If you have never seen these fire breathing beasts walk on water, you should head on out to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park on Sunday to check it out.  Gates open at 7:00 am.
