The 2016 Street Car Takeover at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park

Street Car Takeover at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park

Chandler, ARIZ. (February 21, 2016) – The grounds at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park were crowded on Saturday as both auto and motorsports enthusiasts took part in the Street Car Takeover.  With a diverse range of participants, everything from 2,000 horsepower muscle cars and trucks to late model Mercedes and Nissan GTRs were on the drag strip while a small car show was held in the parking lot.

Street Car Takeover at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports ParkPrior to 4:00 pm, those competing in the drag racing started the races with a rolling start.  After the burnout contest, it was game on with water box burnouts and some fast paced drag racing action on the track.  Classes included Street Racer, Street Outlaw (Unlimited class) 1/8th mile, Extreme street 10.00 index, Small Tire 1/8th mile, Daily driver 11.0 index, Stick Shift, Street Truck, FWD Heads Up, LSX/LTX vs Modular Shootout and Street Bike.

There were only two competitors in the burnout contest, but they definitely earned every bit of the $150.00 cash prize.  Both burning the tires until at least one blew out.  The crew had to use scrapers to get all of the rubber out of the burnout box.

The crew at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park did an awesome job getting the big horsepower cars down the track Saturday.  Nice work guys & girls!

We haven’s been notified of all of the winners, but here’s what we have so far;

After trash talking all week between Clay Forrester and Glen Bolz, they decided to settle it on the track with a good ‘ol fashioned grudge race.  Glen would put Clay in his place after running 4.64 at 153 mph in the 1/8th.  Clay turned up the boost and spun off the line.
