Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series 2016 Valley of the Sun NAPA Spring Nationals’ Qualifying from Wild Horse Pass

Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series 2016 Valley of the Sun NAPA Spring Nationals' Qualifying

Chandler, ARIZ. (March 25, 2016) – The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series began running round two of their 2016 racing season on the water at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park Thursday as qualifying for the Valley of the Sun NAPA Spring Nationals kicked off.  Drag boat racers from across the US came out for their chance to compete in Saturday’s final elimination rounds.

Just over 60 Top Fuel Hydro, Top Alcohol Hydro, Top Alcohol Flat, Pro Mod, Pro Outlaw teams and more are running on the lake Saturday, putting their best tunes on the boats looking for the win at the end of the day.  Each team was given one run on Thursday, and two runs on Friday to qualify for Saturday’s elimination rounds.

In Top Fuel Hydro, Bryan Sanders piloted the Nitrochondriac to the No. 1 position with a 3.67,  241 MPH pass.  During Saturday’s qualifying, the Speed Sports, piloted by Jarrett Silvey blew over mid track and sank into the lake.  Silvey was uninjured in the crash, making out better than the boat.  The Liquid VooDoo Top Fuel Hydro team was on the water with Scott Compton looking to get Compton his TFH license.

It was good to see that Eddie Knox Racing and EKR bringing Daryl “Mad Max” Ehrlich and the “Problem Child” Top Fuel Hydro back together for the 2016 season.  Daryl sure knows how to pilot the 8,000 horsepower beasts on the water.

Pro Mod No. 1 qualifier Marty Logan will have a bye run in the first round after running a 7.005, 175.097 qualifying pass in “Livin Tha Dream.”

Lucas Oil Drag Boat teams must attend 51% of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series events to be eligible to win the bounty for the 2016 class series which will wrap up November 4 – 6, 2016 during the NAPA Auto Parts World Finals.

The gates at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park open at 7:00 AM Saturday morning for the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series NAPA Spring nationals. General admission tickets are $25.00.

The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series’ next race will be held in Parker, Arizona during the Colorado River Challenge held April 15th – 17th at the Blue Water Hotel & Casino.

Scroll down to check out some of the action on the water as Lucas Oil Drag Boat teams qualify on the water at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park on Friday.
