Final Elimination Rounds on the Lake at WHP determine Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series 2016 Champions

The 2016 Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Association's World Finals from Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park

Chandler, ARIZ. (November 7, 2016) – Wrapping up its 2016 season, the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Association ran its final race, the World Finals on the lake at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park this weekend.  After qualifying on Friday and Saturday, the ladders were set for Sunday’s lineup on the rope.

The 2016 Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series began at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in the beginning of the season.  From there the series moved to Parker, then Wheetland, San Angelo, Augusta, Marble Falls, back to Wheetland and then back to Parker before the World Finals on the lake at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona.

The teams who competed throughout the year have given it their all, and will continue to do so.  The drag boat racing on the late this weekend was surely exciting as racers continued to put themselves in a position to take the 2016 championship in their classes.  Results below.

Top Fuel Hydro Bryan Sanders  piloting the Nitrochondriac met Mike Robbins in the Nitro Nits on the rope.  It was a side by side run, but Sanders’ 3.46 would take the win.

In Top Alcohol Hydro, Michael Welsh pilots the Reality Check to a 4.63 pulling off a huge upset and against Rick Allen and Total Kaos.

Tony Scarlata and Don Bausher made it to the finals in Top Alcohol Flat.  Scarlata piloted Tommy Thompson’s Shazam to a hole shot win, taking out Bausher and Habit Forming with a 5.54 against Bausher’s quicker but losing 5.41.

Pro Mod went to Tyler Speer who piloted Climax to the win on Sunday.

Pro Outlaw went to Steve Rajcic.

The Nick Rose Insurance sponsored P-74 took not only the World Finals win, but also the Cracker Box Pro season.
