ADRA, Arizona Super Comp & King of the Track at Kick off 2017 Points Racing at Wild Horse Pass

Chandler, ARIZ. (January 9, 2017) – Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park kicked off its 2017 points racing on the dragstrip with three great races.  A King of the Track race, ADRA’s first race of 2017, and Arizona Super Comp’s first race of the 2017 season.

The track was busy as racers dialed in their race cars and dragsters prior to elimination rounds on the dragstrip in their respective classes.

Phoenix’s Mike Zimmerman was hot lapping his 2010 Yancer Dragster as he made it to the final elimination rounds in the King of the Track Wally race and ADRA Super Pro.

In the King of the Track race for the Wally, Zimmerman went up against Mesa’s Dave Muller and his ’74 Camaro.  Muller got off the line first with a .006 light against Zimmerman’s .015.  Both just about ran their number, Muller with a 12.270 at 105.01 mph and Zimmerman with a 7.688 at 172.76 mph on a 7.68 dial.  Zimmerman would be the King of the Track and take home the Wally.

In ARDA Super Pro, Mike Zimmerman met Chandler’s Blake Williams and his ’66 Nova at the tree in the finals.  Both got off the line with good lights, Blake with a .006 and Mike with a .009.  Blake ran a 10.230 at 126.78 mph on a 10.23 dial for the win.  Mike gave him a run with a 7.716, 175.09 mph on a 7.768 dial.

ADRA Pro had Mesa’s Bob Kullberg in his ’67 Barracuda and Phoenix’s Richard Church and his ’55 Chevy running against each other in the finals.  Unfortunately, Church went red by -.011 handing Kullberg the win.  Kullberg ran a 10.685 at 124.06 mph on a 10.65 dial.  Church ran a 9.747 on a 9.74 dial.

There were some new drag racers out in the Junior Street class and it would be Glendale’s Hunter Wray in his ’85 GMC meeting Chandler’s Ryan Edwards in a ’02 GMC Yukon in the finals.  Wray went red by -.014, giving the win to Edwards.  Congratulations on making it to the finals on your first time out.

Arizona Super Comp saw Glendale’s Nick Alenjandre and his ’00 Nells/Chance dragster facing off against Queen Creek’s Matt Harvil and his ’99 dragster in the 8.90 index race.  Alejandre got off the line first, leaving on a .017 light and going on to run too quick with a 8.897 at 142.40 mph.  Harvil ran a 8.932 at 169.57 mph for the win.
