The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series’ Teams Compete for 2017 Points during the LODBRS Valley of the Sun Spring Nationals at Wild Horse Pass

Chandler, ARIZ. (April 2, 2017) – The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series had the water boiling on the lake at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park over the weekend as nearly 100 drag boat racing teams were all looking for to be number one in their class during the Valley of the Sun Spring Nationals.  The first race of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series 2017 season, teams had the opportunity to test on Friday prior to Saturday’s qualifying sessions.  It would all come to a head during Sunday’s elimination rounds.


In Top Fuel Hydyo, Bryan Sanders in Tommy Thomspon Motorsports’ Nitrochondriac and Daryl Ehrlich in the Eddie Knox Racing Problem Child would be the last pair to lead the rope on Sunday.  Sanders piloted the Nitrochondriac to the win, setting a new speed record after running a 3.46 at 268.40 mph.


Bob Pizza took the Top Alcohol Hydro win in the What a Tomato.


TAF-Tony Scarlata took the Top Alcohol Flat win in Shazam.


Shawn Reed took the Pro Mod win in Top Secret.

Cole Allen and Desperado took the Pro Outlaw win, Tom Roberts and Outta Control took the Pro Eliminator win, Dave Lipinski and Hot Shot took the quick eliminator win, Bill McGuinn and No Clue took Top Eliminator win, Mike Munoz and Rat Bastard took the Modified Eliminator win, Armand Labarre and Yellow Jacket took the Stock Eliminator win, Glendon Boehme and Blackie’s Magic took the River Racer win and Brian Marble took the Personal Watercraft win.

Congratulations to all of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series Valley of the Sun Spring Nationals winners.
