The 2017 SCORE International Baja 1000 Off Road RaceBa

Baja, CALIF. (November 20, 2017 – This year marks the 50th running of the Baja California off road race, starting in  Ensenada  and running 1134.4 miles to La Paz . It proved to be quite a challenge for the 405 official entrants, with just 205 teams finishing the 48 hour timed race course.
The sanctioning body SCORE International headed by President Roger Norman with his wife Elise and the team of dedicated staff have put this race in the book as a great success. Along with a tremendous amount of preparation they also use very sophisticated GPS tracking system, the Stella III helps to aid in racer management and safety.
The milestone of running the 50th Baja 1000 was surrounded by tradition, Former SCORE owner Sal Fish (38 years) was the Grand Marshal for the race.
Also on hand for the event was Rod Hall (Reno NV) who has seen all 50 Baja 1000 races, his team with him as driver of record won the Stock Full class in 37:05:07 in their Hummer.
In Trophy Truck class Robby Gordon was #1 qualifier ( 3rd #1 in 4 years) at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway event during the SEMA show. he did finish the race but fell short of his 4th Baja 1000 win with an overall finish of #16 at 26:53:11 elapsed race time.
This year the father and son Carlos Lopes and reigning SCORE trophy truck champion Apdaly Lopez dominated the course, driving the #1 truck winning in a time of 19:53:36.
Rounding out the podium was truck #16 Cameron Steele at 20:52:45 and #23 Dan Mc Millin  21:13:09.
Another class is the Baja Challenge class, these are race ready cars by . if you want to race Baja you can step into a car and race with an all inclusive experience. This year the family of Roger Norman is running the BC10 car. The team includes: Edward Muncey, Don Roger Norman, Roger Norman, Vanessa Norman, Laura Norman-Hartman, Rob Hartman, Dr. Shawn Evans, Liza Norman. the team finished 7th in class with a time of 43:50:24
There were many other hard fought battles over the 1134.4 mile course in all the classes. a list of finishers and times are attached.
