arizona speedway

San Tan Valley, ARIZ. (May 20, 2018) – It would be an action packed night of racing on the dirt Saturday at Arizona Speedway as the USAC Non Wing Sprint Cars, San Tan Ford IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Mod Lites and the Horne Ford Bombers tore it up.

The USAC Southwest Sprint Car series was the feature race of the night.  Coming into Arizona Speedway on Saturday Charles Davis Jr leads in points.  Tye Mihocko, Mike Martin, Michael Curtis and Josh Pelkey round out the top 5.

In Heat 2 of the USAC Southwest Sprint Car series, Tyler Adams would put on a show for the crowd after his car got out of control and flopped end over end, coming to a rest in turn 1.  Adams was uninjured in the crash.

After running two Heat races, with Charles Davis Jr. taking Heat 1 and R.J. Johnson taking heat two, it was time for the Sprint Cars to race, and that they did as they blazed around the 1/3 mile high bank dirt oval.  In the end it would be the No. 19 of R.J. Johnson taking the win after dominating the race from the beginning.  Mike Martin took 2nd and Tye Mihocko took 3rd.

The Priest family out of Mesa swept the heat races in Mod Lites.  Brendon Priest taking the win in Heat 1 and John Priest taking the win in Heat 2.  Brendon would get his second win of the night after taking the checkered flag at the end of the Mod Lites main race.  Collin Bender took 2nd and Sean Conyers took 3rd.

The San Tan Ford IMCA Northern Sport Mods by far had the most cautions of the night as they competed for position on the track.  Ty Weidner took the win Heat 1, Mark Harrison took the win in Heat 2 and Bo Partain took the win in Heat 3.  After avoiding the carnage on the track, Bo Partain would take the win the the Sport Mods feature race.

The Horne Ford Bombers would be the last feature race of the night.  Glen Branham Jr. had taken the win in Heat 1 and Michael Soboski had taken the win in Heat 2.  Soboski’s skills would carry him through the night and see him to a win in the Bombers Feature race.  Justin Fitts took 2nd and Aaron Coller took 3rd.

Congratulations to all of Saturday’s winners at Arizona Speedway.
