No Prep Drag Racing with GoFast Entertainment’s Shutdown Showdown

shutdown showdown

Chandler, ARIZ. (January 13, 2019) – With 20K on the line, 10K in Big Tire and 10K in Small Tire, GoFast Entertainment’s Shutdown Showdown attracted No Prep drag racers from across the country to compete in Saturday race at the top of the dragstrip at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

Arizona drag racers brought their A game, arriving at the track with some of the fastest street cars in the state.  Defending Small Tire champion Tim Rigby was taken out in round 1 by Omaha Nebraska’s Joey Hiykel.  Hiykel made the drive to Arizona with the intent of taking the purse in Small Tire.

“Turbo Dave” Welker took the Big Tire round one win Saturday night in his Trans Am.  Unfortunately, Vic Brum put his Chevelle into the wall chasing the 7K Big Tire win purse.  Between Brum’s crash and a few oil downs, the race delays were eventually met by rain that had moved into the area and the remaining rounds were pushed off until Sunday morning.

The crew at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park spent the morning drying the track so the remainder of the event could be completed.  By the end of the day, winners and runners up would be going home with the cash for their efforts, and only one Arizona racer made it to the finals.

Final results can be found below.
