NHRA Fuel Teams Begin 2019 Testing at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park

Chandler, ARIZ. (January 30, 2019) – NHRA fuel teams began testing their 2019 hot rods prior to the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Series today at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.  Over 20 fuel teams were on site for the start of the test session, although not all of the teams made a pass.

NHRA Fuel Dragster and Funny Car teams from Don Schumacher Racing, John Force Racing Kalitta Motorsports and more were on site to test their setups prior to competing in the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com at Autoclub Raceway in Pomona next week.

Defending champion Steve Torrence, driving the Capco Racing/Torrence Motorsports dragster put up the best numbers in TFD with a 3.725 at 327.66 mph.

In Fuel Funny Car, Kalitta Motorsport’s defending champion JR Todd put down a 3.930 at 305.22 mph in the DHL Toyota Camry on day one of testing.

The NHRA test session continues through Saturday.  Unfortunately, the session is not open to the public.  Check with Arizona Auto Scene to keep up with more information on NHRA’s  fuel teams testing at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.
