Arizona Grudge Racing Association Opens for the Monster Truck Nationals

Chandler, Arizona April 21, 2012 — Adrenaline packed heads up racing at its best, Arizona Grudge Racing Association (AGRA) drivers ran the 1/8th mile today at Firebird International Raceway as an opener for the NAPA Auto Parts Monster Truck Nationals.

Qualifying and eliminations down to the finals were run in conjunction with the Arizona Drag Racing Association’s 5th race of the 2012 season,.  After participating in a parade down the strip, finalists from both the AGRA and the ADRA ran in front of packed grand stands as they delivered the opening excitement for the Monster Truck Nationas.

The AGRA’s Renegade class is true Grudge racing.  It’s no holds barred, run as fast as you can and still put to power to the pavement.  Drivers can elect to call out another driver for a heads up blast down the 1/8th mile track.  Boosting power with super chargers, turbos and nitrous, these racers are laying on the power to their 2,000 plus horsepower rides fast, trying to put it all down and hook to the track as they race to the finish line.

Saturday’s Grudge racing was definitely a crowd pleaser.  With tire smoking burnouts, wheel standing launches, nitrous purging at the line, all accompanied by the sounds and smell of drag racing, these all out drivers and their cars put on a great show during an exciting afternoon of drag racing.

Doug Driggers took the cash with his 46 Dodge pick up for the second time in a row in the 2012 Renegade class.

In the 6.50 class, James Knight and his 67 Camaro took the win.

Seth Polvadore took the win in the 7.50 class in his 66 Ford Ranchero.
