Arizona Car Shows and Automotive Events

Wide shot of a packed Arizona car show with classic and modern cars on display

Arizona has one of the most active car show scenes in the country, and it's not hard to understand why. The weather cooperates for most of the year, the car culture runs deep, and there's a huge variety of events spread across the state. From massive nationally-recognized productions to small hometown shows in shopping center lots, there's something going on almost every weekend.

What Makes Arizona's Car Show Scene Different

The biggest factor is climate. While much of the country shuts down from November through March, Arizona's car show season actually peaks during those months. Snowbirds bring their cars south, auction houses set up shop in Scottsdale, and local clubs ramp up their event calendars knowing the weather will cooperate. You'll see a density of shows between October and April that rivals any region in the nation.

But the summer doesn't kill the scene entirely. Early morning shows in the East Valley, evening events in Flagstaff, and indoor swap meets in Phoenix keep things moving even when it's 110 outside. Arizona car people are stubborn like that.

Types of Events Across the State

The range is wide. On one end, you have Scottsdale Car Week in January, where Barrett-Jackson, Bonhams, and RM Sotheby's auction off millions of dollars' worth of collector cars. That week draws international attention and fills every hotel in the city. On the other end, you have a local Mopar club doing a Saturday morning meet in a Chandler parking lot with 30 cars and homemade trophies. Both matter. Both are part of the scene.

In between, you'll find charity car shows run by churches and VFW posts, monthly meets organized by marque-specific clubs, cruise-in style events at restaurants and drive-ins, and swap meets where you can dig through bins of old parts for hours. There are also drag racing events, off-road rallies, and autocross days for people who want to actually use their cars, not just park them.

By Region

The Phoenix metro area has the highest concentration of events, simply because of population. Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, and Peoria each have their own regular shows and cruise-ins. Tucson has a strong scene of its own, with a mix of lowrider culture, classic American iron, and desert rat builds that you don't always see in the Valley. Northern Arizona has fewer events but the ones that happen tend to draw well, especially summer shows in Prescott and Sedona.

National Events with Arizona Stops

Arizona is a regular stop for several national touring shows. Goodguys Rod & Custom Association brings their Southwest Nationals to Scottsdale every fall, and it's one of the biggest events of the year. Other national organizations rotate through the state as well, and local promoters frequently book regional events that draw entries from Nevada, California, New Mexico, and Colorado.

Whether you're a first-timer looking to check out a local show or a seasoned competitor hauling a trailer to every event on the schedule, Arizona has more than enough to keep you busy. Explore the listings below and start planning your weekends.
